Welcome to Pioneer Trek 2006!
If you are looking for the Who, What, Where, Why and How of
this years Pioneer Trek, you have come to the right place!
Who: Stake Youth 14 - 18
All youth 14 to 18 are invited to attend.
What: Pioneer Trek 2006
The goal of this year's pioneer trek is that every youth will
be taking this journey representing one of their own ancestors. Ideally,
if each of us finds one ancestor who has not been baptized and we prepare their
name for the temple, by the time trek is done 100-200 people will have their baptism
and temple work completed.
Where: Property owned by the church.
This year's Trek will take place on property owned by the Church,
specifically purchased with pioneer trek re-enactments in mind. The
property is over 201,000 acres, covering area across the Utah and Wyoming
borders. Transportation to and from this property will be provided by your
local ward and stake.
When: NOW!
The above statement is NOT a typo! While it is true that the actual
"trek" part of this activity will be June 28, 29, 30 and July 1, we
all need to begin now with our preparations! Starting from TODAY each of
us can begin preparing by scheduling the "Monthly Events" into our
individual calendars.
How: By doing the following:
The "Trek" will be in June, but the following tasks need to be done
NOW to get the most out of this exciting journey:
1 -
Come unto Christ through following the prophet.
The pioneers began their journey under the direction of the
living prophet. As you begin to make your preparations, keep in mind that
while Trek will be fun , and difficult , and exciting , it is
more than that. Trek is one of the few youth activities specifically
outlined by our living prophet for youth in our day. "...whether by
mine own voice or by the voice of my servants, it is the same." D&C
1:38
2 -
Pray for guidance in your preparation.
One of our Father's most simple rules is to "ask",
"seek", and "knock". If we are going to be successful
in finding an ancestor whose name we can take to the temple, one of the absolute
best resources is our Father in Heaven. These are His children and he
loves them. While there it will not be a simple task, the fact that he has
told us to ask him for help is a pretty good indication that he is more than
willing to help us.
3 - Read the scriptures
daily.
Outside of following the prophet's council, and praying for
guidance, nothing will bring you closer to the Lord than reading and pondering
the scriptures on a daily basis. If you will make this a part of your
preparation, you will be able to recognize the promptings of the spirit because
you will be familiar with that spirit from associating with it daily.

- Review the "Monthly Events " and start
adding them to your calendar.
Each month from now until "Trek" there are
"Trek" specific tasks, which, if you do, will leave you specifically
READY physically, mentally and spiritually for the adventure we are going to
have together. If you will add these activities to your schedule now, and plan
on making them a part of your preparation, you will be ready.
